April 10, GrubCut.

At 8:34 central daylight I received the following text from you:

                        GrubCut

The particulars are: Dodgers at Cubs, 19:05 c.d.t.

             Alex Wood - Jon Lester.

I have finished my lunch of (so far) banana and granola bar.  Cue the baseball music: in this case an off-Broadway matinĂ©e in the Bronx.  It's 1-0 Yanks on an Ellsbury double.  Ellsbury is hitting .381 so maybe I've been wrong about him not wanting to be there.  "She's gone!  And that's why you play Aaron Judge every day.  It's Judgment Day, and here comes the Judge."  I don't mind the shtick.  It's an acquired taste though.  Yanks lead 2-0 after four.

I wasn't going to say it but John Sterling says it's time to get excited.  Pineda is perfect through five.  I haven't said who they're playing: it's Tampa Bay.  Make it six.  Nine Ks... Bill James is salivating at the game score possibilities (currently at 85).  Darnit, he gave up a hit...to Longo!...in the seventh, but otherwise he is clean through seven with 11 strikeouts.  The score is...now 3-0...Headley ("You can bank on Chase.")

Pineda went 7 2/3 IP and was touched for a LoMo home run.  Final game score of 84.  The Yankees move to 3-4, Rays down to 5-3.

Now we have arrived at a bridge in Detroit, 1-1 top 8, the only game in town is in MoTown.  A's at Royals is slated to begin at 15:15 central daylight.  So, this game has a little ways to go to make a bridge, which won't be a problem if the score remains tied.  This was a Sale-Verlander card.  Sale is at 88 pitches through seven, three hits, one run, no walks, nine Ks.  Verlander also went seven, 112 pitches, two walks, four Ks.  The Tiger broadcast said Verlander struggled early, didn't have his best stuff, but settled in shortly thereafter.

In bed writing again.  Mets-Phils 2-2 in the eighth on the iPod.  It was (the pod) lost in the bed overnight.  We were listening to Rooney and Rickey call Crads-Nats.  The Nats seemed ready to give in and give one to STL via three errors, mediocre mound work from Roark, sluggishness from Rendon, an 0-fer from Daniel Murphy and then all of a sudden it was 6-5 Nats.

The GrubCut is going to begin soon, after being slowed by a nearly two-hour long delay.  I have not been focused on baseball tonight.  I listened to some Astros at Mariners.  James Paxton was dealing.  Morton had been matching but faltered.  Houston's marquee offense is strictly B-material so far.  HotCut is going to be the day's last game to start ... Marp wanders at first, 9-3 double play.  What is the creeping malaise that has engulfed this craptacular Crad squad?  They've been...bad.
