April 15, KluberCut.

I have not recorded the official, the essential stats regarding the last two HotCuts. April 14th—yesterday, a Friday—was a KerCut.  That was Kershaw - Greinke.  I'm going to input your texts to me, from Portland, Oregon to the Missouri wilderness but that will wait until morning (tomorrow morning will be Sunday, rain, and coffee). Then today, Saturday, is a KluberCut, Verlander at Kluber.  Verlander was getting gotten to.  Flukily, outlierly so. That's it, not too extensive a recap.  We had the 'Cut on but B has Verlander and she was getting steamed.  Then Kluber gave up a homer to Justin Upton and we had to relocate. ... I am in bed again but struggling.  In the background:  Mets.  B ends it.  It's 3-2 Mets top 7.  Braves lead Padres 4-2 after six.  Royals 2-1 Angels. My cousin and I heard that failed Crad rally last night.  José M had life.  Then the Blues won. Atlanta makes a pitching change.  Jackie Robinson Day.  Jackie Robinson Day.  42, everyone.  E

April 13, BumCut!

At 8:23 central daylight you sent the following text message: BumCut! Jon Gray and the Rockies play Madison Bumgarner and the Giants at AT&T Park in San Francisco at 21:15 central daylight.  I'm probably going to have to pull a LaZarus if I'm going to catch any of that one. But fear not, rest, and godspeed ye merry gentle-folk because the baseball Gaia have cooked up one sumptuously crafted architect-approved smorgas-bridge of baseball for your hungry hearts today.  Lo these start times (all central daylight): 12:10; 13:05; 13:20; 14:37; 17:10; 18:05.  Betsy Ross couldn't have sewn a better-looking lineup than that.  Of course it's the Tigers starting first.  And how about that 14:37 start in...Anaheim.  BiZarre, but good biZarre.  Baseball baZaar! My approach to this year's action has been a little different, perhaps because I am down to one fantasy team.  For instance, I had no idea Céspedes had hit three homers Wednesday until late Thursday.  I am not d

April 12, MotorCityHotCut.

At 7:55 central daylight you sent me the following text: MotorCityHotCut This game pits Kyle Gibson and the visiting Twins against Michael Fulmer and the Detroit Tigers.  Thankfully it begins at 12:10 central daylight. ... I have on the Tigers broadcast.  They trail the Twins 1-0, top 3.  Buxton is out of the Twins lineup today after his wretched strikeout-binging start. Gibson is in a jam.  Tyler Collins at bat with the sacks jammed.  There's nowhere to put him!  It's 3-0 Twins.  Did you know that Miggy has not driven in a run yet?  Collins singles, it's 3-1.  Castellanos scored and that's Victor on third.  Andrew Romine just joined what has to be a select group: those who've hit a grand slam in a HotCut.  Suddenly the Tigers are on top, 5-3. Fulmer has thrown 87 pitches through 4.  That's 21.75 pitches per inning.  A Maddux would require 11 or so pitches per inning, or less. Checking in on the other early game, it's Tampa 3 - NYY 0.  Longo is

April 11, BeanTownHotCut.

At 8:45 central daylight this morning you sent the following text: BeanTownHotCut In particular, it will be Dylan Bundy and the Orioles visiting Fenway Park where Drew PomeranZ will pitch for the hometown team. Well, here we go again.  Matt Boyd hasn't allowed a hit through five.  Two walks, six strikeouts.  The Tigers got Boyd in the David Price trade.  Boyd was bad in two or three starts for Toronto—in one he might not even have gotten one out.  He was pretty good for the Tigers last year but I can recall one awful start against the Twins in September.  There's no score in this game, Tigers 0 - Twins 0.  Santiago has been solid for Minnesota, two hits through four innings.  This is the only game going.  The Tiger radio broadcast has grown on me.  I had them ranked fourth on my MLB Radio power rankings at the end of 2016; that's higher than I would've guessed. With two outs in the top of the sixth, Robbie Grossman singled off of Matt Boyd.  Jorge Polanco, 7, an

April 10, GrubCut.

At 8:34 central daylight I received the following text from you:                         GrubCut The particulars are: Dodgers at Cubs, 19:05 c.d.t.              Alex Wood - Jon Lester. I have finished my lunch of (so far) banana and granola bar.  Cue the baseball music: in this case an off-Broadway matinée in the Bronx.  It's 1-0 Yanks on an Ellsbury double.  Ellsbury is hitting .381 so maybe I've been wrong about him not wanting to be there.  "She's gone!  And that's why you play Aaron Judge every day.  It's Judgment Day, and here comes the Judge."  I don't mind the shtick.  It's an acquired taste though.  Yanks lead 2-0 after four. I wasn't going to say it but John Sterling says it's time to get excited.  Pineda is perfect through five.  I haven't said who they're playing: it's Tampa Bay.  Make it six.  Nine Ks... Bill James is salivating at the game score possibilities (currently at 85).  Darnit, he gave

April 9, DesertCut.

Among other texts, you sent the following at 10:49 central daylight: Today, we have a desert HotCut. Specifically, it is Corey Kluber for Cleveland opposed by Patrick Corbin for the Diamondbacks.  We are watching Tigers hosting Red Sox.  You have watched five different games so far.  You are telling me you are going to try and watch some of all 15 games today, except Seattle because of the blackout restrictions.  You called the Yankee lineup "a poopooplatter deluxe."  The Red Sox lineup includes Steve Selsky, Sandy Leon, That Chris Young, Panda.  I was going to put Mitch Moreland in there but he just put a competent swing on one to slightly left center for an RBI double.  It's 2-2 after two and a half in Detroit. B says you sent her a text about the Pirate uniforms—was that meant for me?—so I have pulled up that game the check them out.  I like them, they're different, throwing back to the seventies.  If there's one element I don't like it's the tops
