This game pits Kyle Gibson and the visiting Twins against Michael Fulmer and the Detroit Tigers.  Thankfully it begins at 12:10 central daylight. ...

I have on the Tigers broadcast.  They trail the Twins 1-0, top 3.  Buxton is out of the Twins lineup today after his wretched strikeout-binging start.

Gibson is in a jam.  Tyler Collins at bat with the sacks jammed.  There's nowhere to put him!  It's 3-0 Twins.  Did you know that Miggy has not driven in a run yet?  Collins singles, it's 3-1.  Castellanos scored and that's Victor on third.  Andrew Romine just joined what has to be a select group: those who've hit a grand slam in a HotCut.  Suddenly the Tigers are on top, 5-3.

Fulmer has thrown 87 pitches through 4.  That's 21.75 pitches per inning.  A Maddux would require 11 or so pitches per inning, or less.

Checking in on the other early game, it's Tampa 3 - NYY 0.  Longo is 0-for-2 with a run, a walk, and two strikeouts.  He's hitting .226 but his OPS was .826 before today.  Steven Souza Jr career K:BB before this year: 310 to 80.  This year: 3 Ks, 6 BBs.  He's a new man.

I believe I heard correctly that Craig Breslow, now pitching for Minnesota, trails only Boone Logan in active career games by a left-hander.  Breslow 540, Logan 585.  That would make for a difficult trivia question.  I don't often think of Breslow and it doesn't feel like Logan has been around that long.  Oh, where have you gone Randy Choate?

Intrigue in the Motor City.  Top nine, two out but two on, 5-3 Tigers.  Alex Wilson trying to retire Eduardo Escobar and save the game.  I suppose Francisco Rodriguez aka K-Rod is not available.  That's it, a fly ball and it's over.  Two inning save for Wilson.
