At 14:51 pacific daylight, word came down: KerCut. It's his fourth 'Cut. Chavez Ravine, Johnny Cueto and the Giants visiting. Cueto's first 'Cut. 19:10 pdt, tonight.
I had been thinking about the 'Cut. It has been coming out a little later. I have fretted a bit: will there be no 'Cut today? You're the P.T. Barnum of naming games of the day. I was listening to a podcast, fantasy-focused... There is another podcast that is not fantasy-focused but just about baseball and they give each other trivia...it is a lot of fun to listen to.
We were watching O's a Red Sox. B said the guy behind home plate looked like the guy who used to host a daytime reality show where people came on with "ridiculous problems". She said the guy had blond hair. I was stumped. There was a guy in the crowd behind home plate with silver-ish hair. I guessed Maury Povich and then Jerry Springer, which is who she was saying it was. Her description killed me but I didn't let on. She looked it up and apparently this guy—not actually Jerry Springer—often is there and many people think he looks like Jerry Springer.
We saw Bundy in control in Fenway. We saw Porcello the same. We listened to John S and Suzyn W on WCBS from NYC, their show, so good. John S started a promo, stumbled, said "that's terrible," and started again from the top. They are giddy in NYC about the Yanks.
I'm waning, not waxing, it's still a little light. Reds - Rats. I'm not gonna make the 'Cut—Rats 1-0—unless I pull a LaZarus. No afternoon games today, tomorrow, nor Wednesday either. Manfred is gonna get hot red scribe from me.
Josh Harrison loses an Amir Garrett offering. Only 2 hits for the Pirates but both are homers, the other McCutchen, who hits now. Cutch, 6-3.
...
It's 21:20 pacific daylight and I'm back a la LaZarus. The crepuscular tones of Charlie Steiner and Rick Monday bring me what's left of the HotCut. Utley, caught looking. Now Chris Taylor. Giants lead 4-2, 2 outs, bottom of the seventh. Giants outfield: Gorkys, Drew Stubbs, Pence. Taylor singles, Bellinger scores. Monday loves Taylor. Bochy on, chats with Cueto, stands pat. Chavez Ravine gets excited. Toles now. Does Cueto have the E-Z-Pass or is he going to have to fish a couple coins out of the seat cushion? I heard today that SF has the second-worst record in the MLB since the 2016 All-Star break. Toles goes 3-1. To the 8th. How long did LaZarus live once he came back to life?
