May 23, KerCut.

Today at 11:57 central daylight you suggested that there was no 'doubtybouty', it would be a KerCut tonight, live from Chavez Ravine.  Kershaw, at 7-2, will throw against the St. Louis Cardinals, who send Lance Lynn (4-2) to the mound.

Tony Two Bags and Company Bag Bergmann

The grounds crew is spreading Diamond Dry in the Capitol.  Anthony Rendon stands in, having hit a "soaring" 2-run home run earlier.  Kyle Seager smoothes in some Diamond Dry with his cleat.  Segura does the same at short.  Motter is at first.  Vogelbach was sent back to the minors recently.

Anthony Rendon—aka Tony Two Bags—sends one to the wall for his 8th double.  I have a cold and I'm lying on my old futon listening to the Nats radio broadcast.  A Wieters single makes it 3-0.  He has a 10-game hitting streak.  Former Rockies draftee Christian Bergmann is on the mound for Seattle.  Their arms are mostly injured—Felix, Paxton, Smyly, Iwakuma.  Not Gallardo.  They're in no shape to be contending, making this matchup lopsided.  It's Joe Ross pitching for Washington.  He bats now, hitting into a double play.

Trea Turner puts one in the air to right where Seattle had hoped to hide Nelson Cruz.  He butchers the play.  Rendon scores on a Turner triple.  Then Werth loses one.  Now Harper hits one way out to center.  S-O-S.  Seattle's ship isn't sinking.  It is is sunk.  Zimmermann singles, his third hit.  The Nats broadcast says, "Bergmann is being left out there to drown."  There is some rain in the capitol, the game is not yet official.  Murphy singles.  Eight hits this inning.  Here's Tony Two Bags again.  Home run.  It's 10-0 Nats.  "He's halfway to 6-for-6 with 10 RBI.  He's 3-for-3 with 5 RBI!"  This is a bloodletting.  Bergmann is sick with leeches, surrounded by quacks.  Eight runs, nine hits in the inning.

Post-Script.

I was down for the count early with a cold.  I will patch in your texts covering the night's action, but mainly regarding the 'Cut:

1)  Blackmon has 40(!) RBI.
2)  Grandal absolutely crushes a Lynn fastball
3)  1-0, bottom 1
4)  KershawKurve makes Diaz look ridiculous
5)  Yadi thrown out at 2nd to end the top of the 2nd.  DiaZ gets a second life!
6)  Delay in Atl approaches an hour
7)  Kershaw is dealing.  12 batters faced through 4
8)  Kershaw through 15.  A Maddux is in play
9)  The Maddux is nearly off the table, but 18 up/18 down
10)  Kershaw:  8, 2, 0, 0, 0, 10, 96 [game score]
11)  A funny 'Cut.  Lynn has easily been our worst pitcher this season, yet he's throwing a gem.  Kershaw is having a game to remember (which says a lot), and this is the 'Cut of the season.
12)  Wow.  Crads tie it in the 9th
13)  Grandal couldn't find the ball!  Grichuk from 2nd to home
14)  To the 10th.  I'm about done
15)  Kenley has thrown 17 IP and has 32 Ks with ZERO walks this season
16)  Puig and Pederson collide.  Both players down.  Puig held on, inning over
17)  Aaaaasannnnnddd...we're back in Atlanta
18)  Goldy with a triple
19)  I'm out
