August 11, TampaBay HotCut.

At 9:26 central daylight, the HotCut hit the wire:  TampaBay HotCut.

Preview

This HotCut brings Carlos Carrasco and the Cleveland Indians to Tropicana Field for an 18:10 game against Jacob Faria and the Tampa Bay Rays.  The Indians lead the AL Central by three-and-a-half games but are 3-7 in their last ten.  The Rays are tied with the Seattle Mariners for the second American League Wild Card berth.

Cervenka Demoted

I recently watched the Marlins' Hunter Cervenka work against the Nationals.  He was a hot mess out there, throwing down and away, down and away, before Mattingly lifted him.  Well, the Marlins sent him to AAA New Orleans today.  Borrowing heavily from this RotoWorld blurb, I note that in 4 2/3 IP Cervenka only allowed one hit yet he allowed eight runs in that span because he walked eight and also hit two batters.

Baseball Waiting Room

It's like that scene from Beetlejuice.  Take a number, nothing but a bunch of sick freaks in here, waiting for their number to be called.  Except we've all got the same number: 18:05, when three games start.  Red Sox at Yankees, Mets at Phillies, Giants at Nats.  The HotCut starts five minutes later.

La PelĂcula

El HotCut, HatCot, HotCat.  At the end of two there is no score in Tampa.  But we are baseball spinning and B wants to see the Yankees.  We are talking potential new domain names for this site.

"Whaaat?  Who the f*ck is that?"  she asks.  I had deliberately concealed the news of the Jaime Garcia trade from her.  I wanted to see how quickly she would recognize him in a Yankees uniform.  I don't think either of us saw him in a Twins uniform, but then again he wasn't with them long.
